Full-time employees and qualified dependents are eligible on day one, with annual enrollment and qualifying life event rules described for making coverage changes.

Who Is Eligible
Full-time employees and qualified dependents are eligible to participate in benefit programs on day one.
When Coverage Begins
Coverage begins on day one for full-time employees. New hires have a 31-day enrollment window from the date of hire, and the same 31 days window applies to qualifying life event changes.
Eligible Dependents
You may also cover your eligible dependents, and documentation is required when you enroll them.
- Spouse (Marriage License or Declaration of Informal Marriage.)
- Dependent Child(ren) (under age 26 or any age if mentally or physically incapacitated)
Qualifying Life Events
Outside of annual enrollment, you have 31 days from the date of a qualifying life event to change your coverage. Submit the event and documentation in Workday; steps and navigation are available on DFWConnected.
- Change in legal marital status
- Change in number of dependents
- Change in dependent status
- Change in dependent coverage/employment status
- Change of residency
- Entitlement to Medicare
- Change In Medicaid/ Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Eligibility
If you miss the 31-day deadline for a Qualifying Life Event, you must drop coverage on any ineligible dependent, wait until the next annual enrollment period to add a dependent, and will not receive a retroactive refund.
Enrollment
Workday is the enrollment platform for all benefit elections and changes. Annual benefits elections made during Oct. 13–27, 2025 go into effect Jan. 1, 2026 and stay in effect through Dec. 31, 2026. New hire elections made within 31 days of hire go into effect on the hire date and stay in effect through Dec. 31, 2026 unless there is a Qualifying Life Event.
- Submit Qualifying Life Event and documentation in Workday.
- Attach documents in Workday to complete the event.
- Make changes within 31 days of the actual event date.
